are you saying that the loss of all the formerly boatable unscheduled releases was a fair trade-off for the (much fewer) additional saturdays? if so fair enough, but i strongly disagree. i understand that it makes sense from the rafting perspective and if their represenative was for it that makes sense and is what he was supposed to do in the negotiation. i also appreciate that he seems to have been the only one to try to remedy the situation, albeit without much success. but, i have asked the people responsible for representing the private boaters about all of the unboatable releases and they have responded by doubting that we lost those releases or suggesting that it was the result of a drought year. RS above seems to doubt that there was a change. last year was not a drought year, and there were a ton of unboatable releases. this is the biggest change since i have been boating there and the agreement was for 12 years. i am curious what the thought process was. did they just not know that the new agreement would mean we'd lose all those releases? or did they think the ASCI would make up for it? i suspect a combination of the two. |
