I went to a talk given by Tom McEwan where he compared the two expeditions, it was very interesting. McEwan's group was mostly self supported out their kayaks with a small resupply team on the ground. Lindgren had something like 80 sherpas and a logistics team, so they did a lot of their paddling with light boats. Also, Lindgren went in in the depth of winter to catch low flows. McEwan had much higher water levels. From watching the Lindgren footy its hard to imagine what much higher water levels would mean.
