I'm asking because I'm sure that people have been doing head to head races since they first put Kleppers in some sort of whitewater.  These kinds of races are about as grass roots as they can get,and I'm sure that they happen in more places than we are aware.

It's the most basic kind of race there is (in concept at least), which is probably why it's so appealing to so many people.

If we are going for a historical perspective, then we should set some loose definitions so that the context is a bit more specific.

smile If there isn't a helicopter shuttle involved it shouldn't be considered as "extreme". <NT> decker New
smile If the Upper Gauley is getting boring in your regular boat try racing it in a composite wild water boat.  You might smitho New
note completly agree ScottBarnes New
note i would say its and extreme race if it can't be done in a wildwater boat gcalhoun New
smile I would agree to that but their are few people right now who could paddle the Gauley in a WW boat.  Only you and Chris smitho New
disagree Racing these in a ww boat is what makes these races extreme. bighelmet New
note Section 4 has been done in wildwater boats. <NT> Bradley New
