...from the sounds of it, and I now own an '07 4Fun. Ironically I had a Stinger before this and had the same problems you have. I paddled a new Fun last fall at Gauley Fest (before they were in stores) and loved it, but felt a tad too big for it at 190, give or take 2-3 pounds. I demoed a 4Fun this spring and knew immediately it was the perfect boat for my needs...forgiving of my being older and out of shape compared to the "glory days", good downriver, stable, loose hull, easy to throw around, and roomy enough that pain wouldn't be an issue.
I've always had pain in playboats, always. I can spend 4 hours at a time in my 4Fun with no worries, aside from stiff muscles which are my own fault not the boat's. It's as loose as anything I've paddled, is balanced, and and as much of a playboat as I'll ever need.
My buddy is 180 or so and loves his Fun...but in this case that 10 pounds is the difference for me, mostly due to downriver performance. He and I noted last weekend on the Gauley..."We've finally found it...the perfect boat" :-) |
