At 170 lbs. I can throw two points in flatwater with only my hands.  I can go forever with handpaddles.  I did all of this my last time on the river, and it was only the 3 time I had paddled in 6 months.  The Disco is BY NO MEANS difficult in any sense of the word to flatwater cartwheel at anything over 150 lbs. (I'm sure it's easy below that, too.)  If the Disco is so much looser, go for it.  I have not paddled an EZ, but the consensus is that the Disco is looser and a better river runner.  I can attest that if you can't flatwater a Disco, you need practice, not another boat.
