I would prefer if they can announce next day's schedule on the prior evening, which they have been doing a lot of lately. I can sympathize that its hard to get to the Green from Atlanta, Knoxville, etc for a 4 hour window if you don't find out until the morning.
I think that in your postion, Tony, I would argue for "night before" updates whenever possible. If you know the night before, you can plan to make it in time. Those of us who live near the Green would love to know when the Smokies or Plateau are running, but the fact is that often, especially late spring & summer, they only run for a few hours after a thunderstorm and then its gone. In this respect, Knoxville locals have the upper hand on the Asheville locals.
If you want better access to the Green, move here. If I want better access to eastern Tennessee's rain dependent runs, I can move there. That sounds localist, but the intent isn't that you aren't welcome. Everyone with the required skills is welcome on the Green, but on days when it has a short window of runability, it pays to live closer (just like the creeks in the Smokies in springtime). |
