might or might not happen. Without a doubt the ball is rolling already. Perspective is important here. Getting hit with "the more, the merrier" concept from Clay really got me thinking about it from a different angle. I am sure there will be many more affected parties weighing in here when all is said and done. Including every property/business owner and Duke customer that will be effected by increase in traffic. I can't imagine that any property owner on Green River Cove Road will want to see a significant increase in traffic on the already really dangerous switchbacks. Or traffic lining the lower part of the road because parking spots are filled to the brim. The Tryon Bulletin quotes that "all of the other dam release rivers in NC have a release schedule, so why doesn't the Green?" or something to that affect. I can well understand how someone who visits here 3 times a year has a vastly different perspective from the property owners along the Green. And a differing opinion from the local business owner. It also states how popular the Green already is, will the uppper and lower not see significant increases with a schedule.? Thinking about the Green River corridor having as much traffic as the Ocoee or Nantahala kinda makes my stomach turn, and yes that opinion is from a local who just wants to try to keep at least what we have. I don't think visitors have a clue as to how popular the Green would become, and not just the locals "precious narrows" and how negatively it would effect the overall experience for all. Thinking that the narrows won't be as crowded as it is on Green Race day or Jerry's Baddle is definately coming from people that don't see it on a summer drought weekend day for sure. |
