Just saying, people who paddle a river regularly complaining about number of people coming from elsewhere crowding it for them ...
Anyone who travels benefits from encouraging the continued expantion of terrain, access, and available information, so I hate to hear any boaters fearing access improvements for reasons we've all heard ad nauseum in the past about runs that are still not crowded or closed to this day.
The localism thing is a human nature pet-peeve, not just an Asheville issue. It's just something we all should be aware of and avoid.
