Definitely not something we try to just pull over on Newbies boaters.

A swim is a bootie for sure, I've seen them poured down flip flops, done with tequila, whiskey, gatorade, cheap beer, not cheap beer.  Seen double beers, booties for bad throws.  I've even loaned out my own bootie for folks without.  Regurgabooties are certainly the most fun to watch.  Last years Captain Kirk Downriver race ended with multiple bootie beers.

My personal take is that it is a chance to celebrate that the river gods had mercy on you, that the swim didn't end too bad and this is an offering of humility.

Its also a great way to find additional motivation for newbies...hang in there or it's bootie:30.

One season on the Lochsa...I'd just gotten my new Alien...well needless to say I was either going to turn into a bootie-holic or needed a new boat!
