We had this discussion this weekend. Now, I'm all for tradition, I loooove beer, and I'm a sucker for sentimentality. But my lips will never willingly touch the cuff of any boot I've ever worn on the river, particularly not to drink anything out of it.
It seems like I'm in the minority here, refusing to take part in this. I'm blown away that guys I boat with, who have always appeared reasonable in most other ways, would allow themselves to get swept into this. Makes me wonder if I should reconsider who I boat with. Can someone who would drink beer from a stanky neoprene boot be counted on to watch out for you on the river? |
