the section(s) that will be most impacted by this project are Commitment Canyon (the crown jewel) & the Lower Mile.

they have already felled acres of trees, including old-growth alongside the stream. they have already turned the jeep road into a full-on road capable of handling semi traffic. this is in a VERY narrow canyon. think about that for a minute. the blasting, the logging, the pitching of that timber into the canyon.

it is wise to disregard anything their website might say. why? because those sites are built NOT by people who know anything about power projects, but by agencies with a knack for design & embellishing prose. keep in mind, they quoted ME on their website in an attempt to prove that they were actually benefitting kayakers by dewatering the stream (you want low flow on the Lower Mile run). the purpose of that site is to shape public opinion & manage public perceptions. & it works. the avg joe really has to work to get past all the bullshit.

remember that, at 49MW, the project is below the magic number of 50MW. that's strategy. It means that Ledcor did not have to go through ANY environmental impact analysis or public input process whatsoever (beyond the challenges the SLRD threw at them, but with Bill30, that's been mitigated).

and also remember that the loose language in the legislation allows for "small" (sub 50MW) projects to be scalable within the same watershed! that means that upstream they can keep developing & utilize the downstream infrastructure. it's a total sham.
