Obviously if it's a personally-relevant story or something like that, it wouldn't work. But if it's just kind of general oppostion, it might be helpful for folks to have two templates to choose from.

I'd encourage people to be kind of ambiguous when it comes to being a boater. it's just too easy for Ledcor & non-boaters to marginalize our interests. All ledcor has to do is say, "hey, we're actually LENGTHENING your paddling season by dewatering the creek! we're making it safer for you." ... and the ignorant public believes that.

if you come at them from an ecological platform or an economic platform (the $ is leaving the province & not hitting the tribe's pockets), or a tourism platform (squamish calls itself the outdoor rec capital of canada) .. it might resonate better with the people who you are talking to ...
