and I have an answer...

Tom,

I don't mind so much people saving my posts or pictures that I have taken and posted on a website and keeping them on their own computer. However, after you have put that material on a CD, and have given it to others, who can tell what happens to that material? It's copyrighted, and should be treated as such... I don't mind it that much, but I think that you should be aware that just about everything that you find in newsgroups and such is owned by someone.

What I mind is suddenly seeing my post pop up on another public forum, with another subject name, (even though I visit Boatertalk regularly) without being asked first.

I intentionally do not post trip reports on Boatertalk (or some other newsgroups that I frequent). Since this post was also including the name of the commercial company, I wanted to keep them informed of my actions against them, if only to give them a fair chance of waylaying my allegations.

This option was now taken out of my hands by Spoke's actions. That bothers me. Hence my reply to him.
