note Creekboat? Playboat?

Generally, you want to be in the middle of the weight range.

I've known a few creekers that like to paddle the biggest boats they can find, even though they only weigh 150lbs.

Though there may be some advantage to being at the top of the weight range in a creek boat, I couldn't tell you what it is. I'm generally silently praying for more volume when things get exciting. I'm a big guy and have paddled a few midsized creekers for grins and I hated it each and every time. YMMV.

For creekboats, I'm going to say being at the top of the weight range sucks.

If you want a playboat that you can toss around, being at the top of the weight range can be handy.

If you want a playboat that is retentive on waves and holes, being at the top of the weight range can suck. Generally, more volume = more retentive.
