In a former life I took quite a few first timers down. I always found 500 - 800 and 1300 - 1700 to be a little easier than 800 - 1300. I know that sounds goofy... but at lower water all the channels and "F-U" rocks are very obvious. At 1300 - 1700 it's like a fluffy cloud with the F-U rocks washed out of play but the holes aren't really as munchy and the water isn't as pushy as 1700+
That 1,000 range seemed to flip more people in On the Rocks and 1/4 Mile than the other levels...
Again, that might all sound goofy enough to not even make sense; which isn't unusual coming from me. =) With the rain I don't think you'll even have an issue but don't be afraid to run it down to 400 or so... it's still good to go. There are one or two places you'll have to make a move to avoid a flat pin but otherwise it's good to go...
If you've found you're having a terrible day before you get to 1/4 mile you can sneak it down the right bank. When you get to Rooster Tail make sure after the main slot you work your way to the left... the right side is pretty nasty with a big undercut rock.
