Some of you out there already know that I've been all obsessed about the Grand Canyon since I climbed out of the ditch 18 months ago (itching to go on another trip this winter, fingers crossed....). And, some know what I have been doing as an artist.
The trip cost a fair amount of money (worth it).
The artwork has cost even more. But, between the two, I have 12 images that are printed with plates prepared for other colors. My goal is to make at least 12 more plates and make full editions. The problem is that cash is stretched so thin that I'm pretty much out of money for the project (I do have enough to pay my bills, barely), so instead of doing the boat bum thing this summer like I wanted, I'm doing the art-bum thing and focusing all my efforts on finishing this project.
I have the press, the stochastic screen, some of the ink, and a whole lot of know-how and willingness-to-work. I need to find a way to get the supplies.
That's where you enter the picture and become a part of the project.
Usually the Kickstarter projects have rewards that are padded out, almost like a PBS thing where you donate $100 and they give you a cheap tote bag. I thought it would be good to use a different strategy, one that is more in line with my own set of values, and simply offer art at a lower price than it normally sells for. I need help. You get a good deal.
The first backer level is $10. (actually, you can donate $1 if you want)
There are many steps, depending on how much you want to participate.
And, many of the updates will be viewable only to backers, no matter how big or small, so it make sense to just donate that first $1 just to see everything.
I'm posting more explanations on my main website
http://www.artandwater.com
but the direct link to the project above is a good way to check up on things too.
I've rambled on enough, and I have to go to the Inn to wash some dishes this shift.
If this project interests you, please at least pass it along to your friends.
Thank you very much.
