Great addition to your creek kit

I saw a folding pruning saw on sale at Northern Tool and I thought it would be a good recommendation for carrying in your creeking kit (along with pin kit, emergency blanket, first aid essentials). These things are great for pruning a small tree out of a drop so you can run it, or they can be used in the unlikely situation that you need to cut open a kayak or remove a tree or branch that your buddy is pinned on. You can get them for under $20 (I saw 2 on sale, one for $10 and one for $5).

I've got one and not only does it take care of pruning around the house, but it's always in my kit on more wilderness style low-volume creek runs. Handy also when camping or if you're hike-scouting a small run and want to clean it up before the big rain. Don't expect to remove big logs, but for the nuisance stuff, they are wonderful. I have been impressed by how quick these things can cut something.

Mine goes in a small cheap rolltop drybag along with the pin kit, prussiks and first aid kit.
