I'm sure I'm a little late on this, but just saw the design for the Jed on Pyranha's website (http://www.pyranha.com/kayaks.php?kayak=Jed). Forgive me, but it looks awfully similar to the Wavesport Project X.

In addition, their new Shiva also looks like it took a couple design cues from the Nomad 8.5. I remember a friend told me a rumor that they actually laser-mapped out the design of a Nomad and may have utilized that in their design process. I know that they also have Robert Pearson (from Wavesport) on their design team these days.

What does everyone think about this? I'm sure the Jed handles much differently than the Project X, but I feel like Pyranha is making minor tweaks off of existing boats. A lot of the companies are releasing boats that look similar these days, so I'm not trying to single Pyranha out or slander them.

How do you feel about these latest designs - are they unique or real improvements?
Do you agree with Pyranha and the directions of other companies regarding boat design innovation?

I've never paddled these two boats, so feel free to tell me I'm wrong.
