Are you looking for ways to motivate or affirmation that taking time off is fine?

I've pretty much quit as well. Getting into other things and my plate is just too full to take full days running around the SE. I have a new house, working more than ever, probably sitting for the bar exam in February, and have a baby on the way. When I do boat its almost always solo as I just don't want to deal with the group dynamic anymore. I was planning on going sunday but passed to do a road ride instead, and I have no regrets. It was an amazing ride and only took two hours instead of 10. Haven't boated in a long time although last time I had a blast.

But by doing that, on the rare occasions that I boat anymore, I seem to have more fun than ever. I feel awake and alive again. And the skills really don't go away quickly. The muscle memory stays for a long time and the mental aspect never really leaves.

Only thing I would recommend is don't worry about it. If you're not having fun on the water, don't go. A canoe isn't going to help, a squirt boat isn't going to help, just stay away. If you try to force it you will just make it worse and lose the bug forever. Hey and you know what, if you never boat again it ain't a big deal. People change and what they want out of life changes as well.

Keep exercising, keep smiling, do whatever you want. go ride your bike. Not for exercise and speed, go ride it for fun. Jump curbs, wreck, be goofy, have fun. Life offers too much to worry Tera, just do what you want.
