...are unaware of the terrain around the river they are on. If I'm headed to a new river that is roadless, I like to spend some time looking at a good topo map of the area, and figure out where the access points are, etc. Most boaters never seem to pick up a map.

I have a small first aid kit I carry if I'm on a remote run, not so much for roadside stuff, but I guess it would be a good idea.
