Just a note for clarification...

Dude,

EJ and I designed the X at my home office on my business computer using my race boat design environment ParaMAX. Adjustments were made to the rocker profile based on previous (pre-EJ/Knight designed X) prototype testing. The X was tested at Rock Island Tennessee. I have the video it has cool new moves with EJ at the helm.  I had not seen the Groove until after I heard that the X was a "copy."  At the time I discounted this because it is obvious to me at least that the Groove was first a very asymetrical C-1 (the X being a symetrical design) and second a much more radical design using technology that EJ and I were not trying to use in the X.  But still this myth persists. I just fail to see the "venturi" principle being applied in the X, it is just plain way different, you know like not even close!

Here it is this is were the X came from.  First and most importantly EJ's desire to design the best possible freestyle hull. Second, EJ convincing Wave Sport to bring this guy Dave Knight, a race hull designer, on board. We thought of balance volume all by ourselves,  then we used a chine modeled after a french slalom C-1 (I'm a so-so squirt/freesytle C-boater with a race boat design background), then we used the bow and stern concavity modeled after a high performance windsurfing hull. Otherwise it was kind of a NOT squirt boat, to way over simplify the design goals.  Anyway considering the design goals we came up with and the background of one of the designers maybe its not surprising that it look a bit like a C-1. Its way more scientific now but gee back then that was it, or at least all I can tell you:)

Notice all the we's this because we are a design team we design hulls together.  We do not and do not need to "steal" or "copy" other designers hulls.  We will respect all patents, patented technology used will be appropriately purchased, all other technology is at our disposal.  We are both capable and competent designers and we have proven this repeatedly.  We will put our hull design resume' against anyone in the world and I would say fair resonably well.

Oh well this is so 90s, guess I'll stop responding to this one again for a few years.  Long live the Groove and the X I personally think they're both pretty sweet boats, but a little outdated, kinda like a '57 Chevy.

try to lighten up on the steal thing its pretty harsh thing to spread just on a rumor, we are all paddlers and I don't recall deserving such a slam

PEACE
   Dave
