BoaterTalk FAQ: Shipping a Paddle
There are a few ways to ship a paddle, but this is what I have found to work well and be very reasonably priced:

Our beloved USPS will ship a whitewater kayak paddle for about $12-16 as long as it doesn't exceed their size limit of 108" for priority mail or 130" for parcel post. You calculate the size by adding the length measurement + the girth (around) the largest part.

As long as you don't box the paddle, it won't exceed the size limit. For wrapping the paddle, just wrap some bubble-wrap around the blades, tape them, put the shipping sticker on it and send it on it's way. If you want to get very luxe' with the packaging, get a paint drop cloth and wrap/tape the whole thing.

Either way, resist the temptation to box the paddle. It will cause it to exceed the size limit and then you will pay $30-40 to ship it.

Make sure you get insurance on it also.
