| Riversport in Confluence, PA will be hosting Anna Levesque on May 31(Beginner Clinic) & June 1st (Intermediate-Advanced). These clinics are a great way of getting on the water build skills, friendships, and enjoying some time on the river. The first day class is designed for the Class I-II paddler hosted on very mild Class I-II whitewater. The Int-Advanced class will be held on the beginning section of the lower Yough (Class III). Cost is $50 for the 1 day clinic, or $60 with lunch provided by the Lucky Dog Cafe'. Equipment is included, but please call ahead to reserve if needed. 1-800-216-6991 Hope to see you there. |

Harpers Ferry Outdoor Festival - Harpers Ferry, WV

This is our 10th year, held in memory of Tim Gavin, who drowned Mar. 29, 1998 in a kayaking accident on the Upper Blackwater River.
Tim was a good friend and amazing kayaker who lost his life way too soon. We honor his memory by hosting this annual event to raise money for our 4 benefactors we have selected for their tireless efforts to protect and preserve West Virginias most precious natural resources.Many thanks go out to Friends of the Shenandoah, Cheat, Blackwater,and West Virginia Rivers Coalition for the amazing job they do. Tim would be proud to have his name linked with such great conservation efforts to protect the area's he considered his home away from home.
Our silent auction has gained huge recognition over the past few year's, we have had tremendous sponsorship participation. Last year we had 54 sponsors, ranging from throw bags to whitewater kayaks, and everything between. We are looking to expand again this year!!!!
Live music from 2p-10p, delicious food, vendors and kid friendly games such as the whitewater skee ball table, custom built by Jeff Cogle and Clayton Breeden was a huge hit with everyone! You have to see to believe!
We also have a raft race on the Shenandoah River for all of the local outfitters earlier in June, as they are in full swing guiding on June 14th and are not able to participate on a busy Sat. There has been feirce competition for "The Coveted Doah Cup".
This year we hope to put a little twist on the raft race, you need not have any experience rafting. You and your group of 3 friends will be paired up with a trained, professional guide from the Shenandoah River. After a brief "training session", off you go, vying for "The Amateur Doah Cup" It is a 50.00 donation per raft to enter, all proceeds go to river conservation.

The Ray McClain Camp is for a diverse group of paddlers who would
like to begin or improve their slalom and recreational kayaking. It will
be held at the Wausau, Wisconsin whitewater park June 23-27, 2008.

| Celebrate the beauty of the Ohio River during the 7th Annual Ohio River Way Paddlefest June 27-28, 2008. Recognized as the Midwest's largest on-water canoe and kayak event, Paddlefest will draw over 1,500 paddlers to the Ohio River for outdoor recreation, entertainment, and fun.
OHIO RIVER MUSIC, ARTS & OUTDOOR FESTIVAL
Friday, June 27 from 4 p.m.-midnight at Coney Island
Come early and stay late -- even overnight! Enjoy an evening of live music sponsored by WNKU, food, refreshments, craft vendors, paddling films under the stars, and more! Learn about the Ohio River and what you can do to improve and celebrate it. Buy a new or used canoe or kayak. Bid on dozens of silent auction items. Admire classic wooden boats. Paddle a canoe or kayak on Lake Como or take a “Smart Start” paddling clinic. There is something for everyone at the Festival!
Overnight camping will be available on site for $15 per car.

Kayak Rolling Contest and the Great Ohio River Swim Race
Saturday, June 28
Starting at Coney Island – ending at Serpentine Wall
Join over 1,500 people paddling down the Ohio River on a beautiful June morning, or participate in one of the canoe and kayak races. The river will be closed to barge traffic making the 8.2 mile float trip from Coney Island to the Cincinnati Public Landing a peaceful and scenic outing for seasoned and novice paddlers alike. Enjoy education, music, and water stops along the way.
At the Finish Line Festival at the Serpentine Wall, friends and family are invited to join in as the fun continues with a steel drum band, food, and vendors. Watch paddlers compete in the Rolling on the River kayak rolling contest, and swimmers compete in the first Great Ohio River Swim.
